Cosmetic Acupuncture

Cosmetic Acupuncture is an effective means to sustain a younger appearance. This particular method of treatment was used often by ancient Chinese royalty to maintain a youthful appearance. It has since been extensively developed in the U.S. following Dr. Martha Lucas’ intensive research into the ancient culture’s texts and practice.
Cosmetic Acupuncture is an effective, non-surgical treatment to reduce the signs of aging. Treatment involves insertion of thin disposable needles into specific acupuncture points. This superficial insertion causes micro-traumas, activates fibroblasts, and increases local circulation to the face. This effectively stimulates collagen production — which will fill in lines and give firmness to the skin for a healthy, glowing complexion.
This method of treatment has been reinforced and validated by numerous studies. For example, a 1996 report in the International Journal of Clinical Acupuncture reported that among 300 cases treated with Cosmetic Acupuncture, 90% had marked improvements after just a single course of treatment.
Individual responses to treatment vary according to age and lifestyle. Cosmetic acupuncture has been repeatedly and consistently found to prevent and repair wrinkles – including those of delicate skin texture, improve facial muscle elasticity, achieve better complexion, and realize overall rejuvenation. Fine lines tend to diminish as deeper lines become less noticeable. Ten treatments are usually required (one per week), although bi-weekly visits work well for some patients. After initial treatment, maintenance sessions can be administered to prolong the effect for years.
